Job summary

Pasquotank County is seeking workers to support the County Water System plant operation. The role covers installation, maintenance and repair of water and wastewater lines and fixtures, locating problems, and maintaining equipment. Duties vary by district workload.

The position includes reading meters, sampling water, preparing reports, and even performing courier duties and facility maintenance as needed. Graduation from high school with related maintenance experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school with some maintenance experience, preferably in water and sewer systems.
• Ability to locate problems, operate basic tools, and read meters and reports.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the repair of damaged water and sewer lines; replaces pipes; performs routine maintenance of water and sewer lines.
• Installs water and sewer taps; installs and repairs fire hydrants, water meters, and water valves.
• Reads water meters; double-checks meter readings as requested; discontinues water service as requested by clients or as required because of non-payment of bills.
• Performs sampling and testing of water throughout the system; prepares related records and reports.
