Job summary

The City of New Bern is seeking a Utility Maintenance Worker to install, maintain, and repair water and sewer lines and appurtenances. The role requires performing related tasks under supervision and may involve operating trucks and equipment.

Preferred candidates hold a high school diploma or equivalent, Grade-C Water Distribution, Grade-I Wastewater Certification, and a valid NC driver’s license. Applicants must be capable of labor in various weather conditions and be able to complete daily

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; experience in maintenance desirable.
• Possession of Grade-C Water Distribution and Grade-I Wastewater Certification preferred.
• Driver's license valid in North Carolina.
• Ability to perform manual labor under varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair water and sewer lines and appurtenances.
• Repair lift station pumps and related components.
• Respond to service calls and perform repairs as needed.
• Complete daily reports and service orders.
• Unstop sewer lines using rodding equipment; operate related machinery as required.
