Job summary

Union County Water Department is seeking an Entry-Level Utility Technician I to perform maintenance and repair of water and sewer systems, install taps, locate lines, and operate heavy equipment under supervision. You will assist with preventative maintenance, inspections, safety training, and on-call rotations.

Candidate must have a high school diploma and valid driver's license; CDL within 12 months is required. Drug/alcohol pre-employment screening.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to obtain State water/sewer certifications and standard trainings.
• Valid Driver's License with clean driving history.
• Must obtain Class A CDL within 12 months of hire.
• Pre-employment drug/alcohol test required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preventative maintenance on equipment and facilities.
• Perform routine inspections and PMs; document records in system.
• Operate and maintain equipment including vehicles and heavy machinery.
• Locate water/sewer lines; install/repair taps and meters.
• Maintain water/sewer lines and rights-of-way; perform hydrant work.
• Respond to emergencies and on-call rotations as assigned.
• Participate in safety training and comply with regulations.
