Job summary

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Structural Project Engineer with 5-10 years of experience focused on water resource-related work. You will work on projects across fisheries, hydropower, dams, flood control, and other civil infrastructure, collaborating with a team of engineers to deliver design, analysis, and construction support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited University.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering
• 5+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer
• P.E. or P.Eng. licensure a plus.
• Experience with water resource infrastructure including fishery related projects, hydropower, dams, water conveyance, storm water networks, heavy grading, water treatment, spillways, and pump stations
• Experience with FEA modeling software (ABAQUS or ANSYS/LS DYNA)
• Seismic loads analysis knowledge (coefficient methods, response spectrum, time history)
• Knowledge of ASCE7, ACI 318 and 350, AISC 360 and 341
• Familiarity with Federal Agency codes (FERC, USACE, USBR)
• Strong communication, technical and analytical skills
• Travel up to 15% to project sites and client locations

Responsibilities

• Prepare Design Documentation Reports and technical memoranda summarizing project criteria and design methodologies.
• Evaluate and apply advanced structural design techniques.
• Perform structural computations and analysis using hand methods and software.
• Develop project details and drawings by hand or CAD.
• Edit project specifications and assist with the Project Manual.
• Perform construction phase services including submittal reviews and on-site inspections.
• Develop FEA models and present results to clients clearly.
• Manage planning, design, and construction support services.
• Collect and analyze field data and existing conditions.
• Provide mentorship to engineering staff
