Job summary

McMillen, Inc. seeks a Structural Project Engineer with 5–10 years of experience focused on water resource work, including fisheries, hydropower, dams, flood control, and pump stations. You will design and oversee infrastructure projects from feasibility through commissioning and provide mentorship to junior staff.

The role requires collaboration across disciplines, hands-on analysis, and strong communication to clients. Travel up to 15% to project sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer.
• P.E. licensure a plus.
• Experience with water resource infrastructure including fishery projects, hydropower, dams, water conveyance, storm water networks, pump stations.
• Experience with FEA software ABAQUS or ANSYS/LS-DYNA.
• Seismic loads analysis knowledge and methods.
• Familiarity with ASCE7, ACI 318/350, AISC 360/341.
• Travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Design Documentation Reports, Technical Memorandums and other technical reports.
• Evaluate, select and apply advanced structural design techniques, procedures and criteria.
• Perform structural computations and analysis, by hand calculations and using design software.
• Develop project details and drawings by hand drafting or CAD software.
• Edit project specific technical specifications and assist with the Project Manual.
• Perform services during construction, including submittal review and on-site inspections.
• Develop FEA models and perform linear/non-linear analysis; present results to clients.
• Evaluate and manage planning, design and construction support services.
• Collect field data, as-built plans and engineering reports to establish conditions.
• Provide mentorship to other engineering staff.
