Job summary

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Structural Project Engineer with 5–10 years of experience focused on water resource-related work. The role involves projects in fisheries, hydropower, dams, flood control, pump stations, and more.

Travel up to 15% of the time to project sites and client locations. Ownership opportunities and employee stock plan may be available. The candidate will work within an employee-owned firm focused on engineering, environmental and construction integration, with opportunities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer
  • P.E. or P.Eng. licensure a plus
  • Experience with water resource infrastructure including fishery related projects, hydropower, dams, water conveyance, storm water networks, heavy grading, water treatment, spillways, and pump stations
  • Experience with FEA modeling software for linear and non-linear structural analysis (ABAQUS, ANSYS/LS-DYNA)

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of Design Documentation Reports, Technical Memorandums and other technical reports.
  • Evaluate, select and apply advanced structural design techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Perform structural computations and analysis using hand calculations and design software.
  • Develop project details and drawings by hand drafting or CAD software.
  • Edit project specifications and assist with the Project Manual.
  • Perform services during construction including submittal review and on-site inspections.
  • Develop FEA models and perform linear and non-linear analysis; present results to clients.
  • Evaluate and manage planning, design and construction support services.
  • Collect and analyze field data and as-built plans to establish conditions.
  • Provide mentorship to other engineering staff.
