Job summary

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a Structural Project Engineer with 5–10 years of experience, focused on water resource projects such as fisheries, hydropower, dams, and flood control.

The role involves designing, analyzing, and detailing structures from concept through construction. You will contribute to projects across dams, energy, fisheries, and infrastructure markets with opportunities for mentorship and growth in an employee-owned firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer.
• P.E. or P.Eng. licensure a plus.
• Experience with water resource infrastructure incl. fishery projects, hydropower, dams, water conveyance, storm water networks, heavy grading, water treatment, spillways, and pump stations.
• Experience with FEA modeling software for linear and non-linear analysis (ABAQUS or ANSYS/LS-DYNA is a plus).
• Knowledge of seismic loads analysis methods and ASCE7, ACI 318/350, AISC 360/341.
• Familiarity with Federal Agency codes (FERC, USACE, USBR).
• Strong communication, technical and analytical skills.
• Travel up to 15%.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Design Documentation Reports, Technical Memorandums and other technical reports.
• Evaluate, select and apply advanced structural design techniques and criteria.
• Perform structural computations and analysis by hand and with software.
• Develop project details and drawings by hand or CAD.
• Edit specifications and assist with the Project Manual.
• Provide on-site construction support including submittal reviews and inspections.
• Develop FEA models and present results to clients clearly.
• Manage planning, design and construction support services.
• Collect and analyze field data and as-built plans.
• Provide mentorship to other engineering staff.
