Job summary

McMillen, Inc. seeks a Structural Project Engineer with 5-10 years of experience focused on water resource projects, including fisheries, hydropower, dams, and flood control. You will contribute to feasibility studies, permitting, design, construction, and commissioning across the U.S.

and Canada. The role emphasizes design documentation, advanced analysis, CAD drafting, and direct client interaction. Travel up to 15% is required; a PE licensure is a plus as you mentor junior staff and drive

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience as a Structural Engineer.
• P.E. or P.Eng. licensure a plus.
• Experience with water resource infrastructure including fishery-related projects, hydropower, dams, water conveyance, storm water networks, and pump stations.
• Experience with FEA modeling software; ABAQUS or ANSYS/LS-DYNA is a plus.
• Expertise in seismic loads analysis: coefficient methods, response spectrum, and time history methods.
• Proficient knowledge of design standards: ASCE7, ACI 318 and 350, AISC 360 and 341.
• Familiarity with codes: FERC, USACE, USBR.
• Strong communication, technical and analytical skills.
• Travel up to 15% of time to project sites and client locations.

Responsibilities

• Preparation of Design Documentation Reports and Technical Memoranda.
• Evaluate, select and apply advanced structural design techniques.
• Perform structural computations and analysis using hand calculations and design software.
• Develop project details and drawings by hand drafting or CAD.
• Edit project specifications and assist with the Project Manual.
• Perform on-site construction services and submittal reviews.
• Develop FEA models and present results to clients.
• Manage planning, design and construction support services.
• Collect and analyze field data and as-built plans.
• Provide mentorship to other engineering staff.
