Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Water Resources Project Engineer to support drainage, floodplain, stormwater and transportation projects in Texas. The role offers Tyler, TX or Longview, TX offices and mentorship from senior leaders.

You will develop hydrology and hydraulics analyses, work with TxDOT standards, and coordinate with clients and sub-consultants while advancing technical and project delivery skills in a growing practice.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering degree required.
• 5–10 years water resources experience.
• Texas PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Experience in TxDOT drainage design for TxDOT projects.
• Familiar with TxDOT Design Standards and TxDOT Drainage Manual.
• Experience with Open Roads Designer production and Open Roads Drainage and Utilities modeling.
• Experience with HEC-RAS 1D/2D and stormwater management design.
• Experience with HEC-HMS software.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in discipline-specific design software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Plan, analyze, and design drainage, stormwater, floodplain and transportation projects.
• Coordinate with project managers and sub-consultants to ensure on-time delivery.
• Develop reports and construction plans and cost estimates.
• Prepare proposals and coordinate client meetings.
• Attend meetings with clients and internal teams to ensure quality and deadlines.
• Support in technical mentorship and training of junior staff.
