Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson seeks a Water Resources Project Engineer to support drainage, floodplain, and transportation projects in Tyler or Longview, TX. You will work under experienced leaders, developing expertise in hydrology, hydraulics, and stormwater analysis while contributing to public and private sector projects across Texas.

Responsibilities include planning, design, and documentation, coordinating with team members and clients, and delivering high-quality engineering deliverables

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited civil engineering program required
• 5–10 years of water resources experience
• Texas Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Experience with TxDOT drainage design for TxDOT projects or other DOTs
• Familiarity with TxDOT Design Standards and the TxDOT Drainage Manual
• Experience with Open Roads Designer, Open Roads Drainage and Utilities modeling
• Experience with HEC-RAS 1D/2D and stormwater management design
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Proficient in discipline-specific design software
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and coordinate detailed engineering phases of projects
• Analyze requirements and create reports for submittals
• Design drainage, stormwater, floodplain, and transportation components
• Prepare engineering documents for advertisements and construction
• Develop contract plans, specifications, and estimates
• Coordinate with sub-consultants and internal teams to meet deadlines
