Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a Water Resources Project Manager to lead multidisciplinary teams on drainage and floodplain projects in Texas. You will manage planning through construction support, coordinate with clients, and mentor junior staff to deliver high‑quality solutions.

The role requires strong technical leadership, design oversight, and experience with Open Roads Designer, HEC-RAS/HEC-HMS, and ArcGIS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field from an ABET accredited program.
• Texas Professional Engineer license or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months of hire.
• 7+ years of experience in drainage engineering.
• 2+ years of design oversight and training junior staff.
• Experience in TXDOT drainage design for TXDOT transportation projects or other DOTs.
• Familiar with TXDOT Design Standards and the TXDOT Drainage Manual.
• Experience with Open Roads Designer production and Open Roads Drainage and Utilities modeling.
• Experience with HEC-RAS 1D and 2D roadway drainage applications and stormwater management design.
• Experience in HEC-HMS software.
• Understanding of complex stormwater and drainage concepts.
• Strong oral and written communication skills for project reports.
• Ability to lead and mentor junior engineering staff and build client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee completion of Schematic Impact reports and PS&E projects for complex H&H designs.
• Manage projects in scope, schedule, and budget.
• Collaborate with disciplines and subconsultants to develop a risk‑adverse project scope and fee.
• Develop project plans, PM Plans and QA/QC plans.
• Create and maintain project schedules.
• Manage subconsultants and progress reporting.
• Communicate status, updates, and issues to stakeholders.
• Lead client relationships and marketing efforts for proposals.
