Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson (JMT) seeks a Water Resources Project Engineer in Texas. You will support planning, analysis and design of drainage, stormwater, floodplain, and transportation projects, mentored by senior engineers, with opportunities to advance toward leadership roles.

You will gain hands-on experience across TxDOT and municipal projects, using HEC-RAS/HMS, Open Roads, and GIS tools in a collaborative, employee-owned firm serving communities throughout Texas.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET‑accredited program.
• 5–10 years of water resources experience.
• Texas PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Experience in TxDOT drainage design for TxDOT projects or other DOTs.
• Proficient with HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and Open Roads Designer.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Plan, analyze, design and deliver drainage, stormwater, floodplain and transportation projects.
• Coordinate with project managers and sub-consultants to meet deadlines and quality standards.
• Prepare engineering documents, plans, specs and estimates for bidding.
• Lead or assist on client meetings and project proposals.
• Apply TxDOT standards and best practices in design work.
