Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson seeks a Water Resources Project Engineer in Tyler, TX to deliver drainage, stormwater, floodplain and transportation projects. You will work under experienced leaders to gain hands-on experience in hydrology, hydraulics, and design while supporting project delivery for communities in Texas.

The role emphasizes knowledge of TxDOT standards, HEC-RAS/HEC-HMS applications, and open roads design tools, with opportunities for mentorship and career growth in a growing water

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5–10 years of water resources experience.
• Texas PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Experience with TxDOT drainage design for transportation projects.
• Familiar with TxDOT Design Standards and Drainage Manual.
• Experience with Open Roads Designer, Open Roads Drainage, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS.
• Strong communication skills and proficiency in design software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, analysis, design, and delivery of drainage, stormwater, floodplain, and transportation projects.
• Collaborate with project managers and leaders to develop technical and delivery skills.
• Prepare reports, contract plans, specs, and estimates.
• Coordinate with sub-consultants and internal teams to meet deadlines and quality standards.
• Attend client meetings and contribute to proposals.
