Job summary

The Village of Huntley is seeking a Meter Technician in the Public Works Department. This role concentrates on installing, inspecting, and maintaining water meter reading equipment and reading devices throughout the Village.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED and experience with water meters, MXU devices, and basic billing software. Excellent attendance and safety compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• Meter readings for ~12,000 accounts and 2,000 irrigation accounts.
• Repairs/replaces water meters, MXU transceivers, and batteries.
• Documents maintenance and repairs.
• Assists Finance with red tag notices for 60+ days past due and supports shut-off procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service and promote a positive Village image.
• Complete meter readings and inspections for water and irrigation meters.
• Assist in billing and high-usage checks.
• Support Village-wide programs and on-call overtime as required.
