Job summary

Dreamville Staffing is seeking a Water Meter Reader to join our outdoor field team. You will read meters on assigned routes, maintain equipment, and interact with customers while following safety protocols.

This role requires mechanical aptitude, the ability to lift and walk long distances, and basic math skills to verify readings. A valid driver's license is preferred, and prior outdoor utility experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Previous outdoor utility or field service experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge and ability to repair/maintain equipment.
• Familiarity with utility locating techniques and low voltage systems.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, climb, and walk long distances daily.
• Basic math for recording readings.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.
• Knowledge of safety protocols including DOT regulations and NEC standards.
• Experience with handheld meter readers or similar devices is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Read water meters across assigned routes using handheld devices or manual methods.
• Inspect meters for damage, leaks, tampering; report issues.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on meters and equipment.
• Locate underground utility lines for safe access during readings.
• Follow safety protocols including DOT and NEC standards.
• Document readings and maintenance in logs, digital or manual.
• Interact with customers professionally to explain readings and answer questions.
