The Village of Huntley, a vibrant, growing community of approximately 30,000 residents located in southern McHenry County and northern Kane County, is seeking applicants for the position of Meter Technician in the Public Works Department.
Under the general supervision of the Chief Water Operator, the Meter Technician’s primary responsibilities include installing, inspecting, and maintaining water meter reading equipment and reading water meter reading devices throughout the Village.
Essential job functions require direct interaction and inter-departmental cooperation with Finance and Development Services Department.

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, including or supplemented by vocational courses in the mechanical trades, or related field. Experience in work which provides a familiarity with the trades and equipment used in water meter and service installations, or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and slippery surfaces, humid conditions, extreme cold and heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the risk of electric shock.
The salary range is $56,048 - $78,468, with the starting pay depending upon qualifications. The Village offers an excellent benefits package which includes participation in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF), medical, dental and vision coverage, life insurance, voluntary participation in a deferred compensation 457 plan, and paid time off.
Forty (40) hours per week, Monday – Friday between the hours of 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
