Job summary

The City of Cibolo is hiring a Utility Meter Technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot water meters and AMI devices in the field. You will handle service orders, route planning, and customer interactions while ensuring accurate data and safe operation of equipment.

Qualified candidates possess a High School diploma or GED, at least 6 months in water utilities, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and field tech tools. This is a full-time on-site role with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic water utility systems, meters, and service connections.
• Experience handling meters, AMI devices, and related equipment.
• Ability to document work orders and field observations accurately.
• Experience using mobile devices and field software for data entry.

Responsibilities

• Process utility service orders and plan efficient daily routes.
• Connect, disconnect, and restore water service per policy.
• Install and maintain water meters, meters boxes, and related components.
• Troubleshoot AMI and meter communication devices in the field.
• Perform field readings and verify unusual consumption.
• Inspect meters and surroundings for leaks and safety issues.
• Provide courteous in-field customer service and document actions.
• Maintain field records including GPS data and photos.
• Train and mentor less experienced personnel as needed.
