Job summary

Essential Utilities, Inc. is seeking a Utility Worker I for our Susquehanna location. You will report to the Field Supervisor and repair main breaks and leaks, install new services, and maintain valves and hydrants.

Expect to perform water main mark-outs per PA One Call and monthly leak-detection duties using company equipment. The role requires lifting up to 100 lbs, passing DOT medical exams, obtaining PA Waterworks Class B license within 36 months, and CDL within 120 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Candidate must pass PA Waterworks Class B with Distribution E within 36 months.
• Must obtain CDL within 120 days of hire.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs.
• Proficiency with computers and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Operates and maintains water mains, valves, hydrants, service lines using work order systems.
• Ensure daily work complies with EPA and PUC regulations and safety policies.
• Operates and performs maintenance on equipment and vehicles.
• Reads maps, drawings, and GIS data.
• Performs field service and meter reading as assigned.
• Communicates effectively with customers via email and text.
• May operate a backhoe, excavator, dump truck, and other company vehicles.
• Uses tools: hand tools, power tools, pavement saws, compressors, generators, etc.
• Responds to after-hours calls for emergencies and overtime as required.
• May operate wells, booster stations and tank facilities.
• All other duties as assigned.
