Job summary

HDR is seeking a Water Data Steward to define how data is captured, structured, governed, and reused across the Water Business Group. This leadership role coordinates SMEs and technical authorities to enable consistent data practices and impactful delivery. You will empower project teams with clear data definitions and governance.

This role is embedded in the Water BG, not IT, and focuses on enabling effective project delivery through data quality, reuse, and alignment with enterprise strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent related experience.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the Water engineering industry.
• Experience leading diverse teams and cross-functional collaborators.
• Ability to drive change and align data strategies with business goals.
• Committed to HDR values and an active employee-owned culture.
• Proven ability to translate complex data concepts into practical guidance.

Responsibilities

• Establish SME networks to define technical standards for Water data.
• Develop business-aligned definitions for key terms to support data models.
• Coordinate with leaders to align data workflows and initiatives.
• Promote governance, quality, access, and reuse of data across Water BG.
• Lead change management to drive adoption of data standards and tools.
• Collaborate with Data Stewards and Enterprise Data teams regularly.
