Job summary

WIN Waste Innovations is seeking a Utility Operator to support the operation and inspection of boiler and power plant systems under supervision. You will read meters, monitor equipment, and report abnormal conditions while assisting with sampling, water treatment, and emissions controls.

The role involves operating mobile equipment, maintaining safe work areas, and supporting overtime shifts as needed. It requires basic mechanical skills and the ability to work with a team in a heavy industry

Qualifications

• Three or more months related experience and/or training.
• Mechanical skills to perform tasks such as replacement of shear pins, valve repacking, and equipment inspections.
• Ability to operate power plant auxiliary equipment such as air compressors and dryers, hydraulic power units, forced draft fans, pumps, spray dryer and absorbers, and lime slakers.

Responsibilities

• Safe and efficient operations of assigned equipment in accordance with plant procedures.
• Monitor and inspect boiler plant auxiliary equipment (pumps, motors, fans, dampers, air compressors, valves, etc.).
• Read and interpret data from meters/gauges to identify malfunctions or abnormal conditions.
• Perform sampling and water treatment tasks as assigned (ash sampling).
• Monitor air pollution control equipment.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas.
• Operate mobile equipment (Bobcat, skid steer, forklift) as needed.
• Assist with handling refuse-fuel in the boiler and maintain fire watch in the pit area.
• May require extensive overtime during planned/unplanned maintenance.
• Maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and coworkers.
