Job summary

City of Austin's Austin Resource Recovery (ARR) seeks an Litter Control Operator Trainee to support daily cleaning and trash collection tasks. You will operate refuse equipment, assist crews, and assist with special events during early morning shifts in downtown and surrounding areas.

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing general labor.
• Current Commercial Driver License, Class B or higher.
• Ability to read maps and mapping directions; able to understand and follow English instructions.

Responsibilities

• Picks up, processes, or disposes of trash, recyclables, bulky items, or compostable items at designated sites.
• Pre-trips vehicles and heavy equipment; maintains records and completes paperwork related to collection.
• Operates Rear-Loading Refuse Truck and other ARR vehicles as needed.
• Performs basic vehicle inspections and maintenance; communicates with customers as needed.
