Job summary

City of Austin is hiring an ARR Operator to service curbside collections across the city. The role involves driving heavy refuse and recycling trucks, performing pre/post inspections, and loading materials from houses and businesses while maintaining safety and customer relations.

You will work with ARR crews, follow maps to routes, and train colleagues as needed. The job is outdoor, physically demanding and requires CDL with endorsements within 120 days.

Qualifications

• One year of driving experience with a CDL required.
• Current Class B CDL with required endorsements within 120 days.
• Ability to operate heavy trucks and perform pre/post inspections.
• Ability to read maps and follow route directions.

Responsibilities

• Operate ARR vehicles and equipment such as rear-loading and dump trucks.
• Perform routine vehicle checks, refilling fluids, and maintain records.
• Collect, haul, and dispose of trash, recyclables, and bulky items; assist customers.
• Provide courteous customer service and enforce pickup procedures.
• Assist in training other ARR personnel as needed.
