Job summary

City of Austin is seeking an ARR Litter Control Operator Trainee to perform waste collection and related labor tasks in the Austin area. The role requires CDL-B, the ability to follow routes, operate heavy equipment, and maintain safety and vehicle records.

Responsibilities include assisting ARR crews, responding to routine customer inquiries, and supporting clean-up of sites. The position involves early-morning shifts, weekends, and variable hours with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of experience performing general labor.
• Current Commercial Driver License, Minimum Class B License.
• Must comply with DOT regulations and City of Austin Drug Policy.

Responsibilities

• Picks up, processes, or disposes of trash, recyclables, bulky items, or compostables and dumps materials at designated sites.
• Pre-trips vehicles and heavy equipment and maintains records and reports.
• Learns routes, uses maps, and locates destinations.
• Operates refuse trucks and ARR vehicles as needed.
• Performs basic vehicle inspections and maintains equipment records.
