Job summary

The City of Austin's Austin Resource Recovery (ARR) is seeking an Operator to drive refuse and related equipment across Austin. The role involves daily pre-trips, route routines, and maintaining vehicle records while contributing to litter cleanup and safe operations.

Successful candidates will hold a Commercial Driver License (CDL) with Class B minimum, complete endorsements shortly after hire, and perform physical tasks outdoors.

Qualifications

• One year of driving experience with a current CDL
• Must obtain required endorsements within 120 days of employment
• Ability to read, understand maps and directions
• Ability to follow English instructions and work safely

Responsibilities

• Picks up, processes, or disposes of trash, recyclables, and bulky items
• Operates ARR vehicles and equipment per job needs
• Pre-trips vehicles and maintains records
• Assists in training others in equipment use
• Cleans up illegal dumpsites and high-trash areas
• Follows safety rules and reports accidents or hazards
