Job summary

City of Austin's Austin Resource Recovery (ARR) seeks an Operator Trainee in Cart Maintenance to deliver, exchange, and maintain ARR carts for curbside collection. You will use electric power tools, manage inventories, and respond to customer service requests while ensuring safe, efficient service.

Daily tasks include driving small waste vehicles, loading carts, and working outdoors in all weather. A CDL-Class B license is required, with background checks and a commitment to safety and quality

Qualifications

• One year of experience performing general labor.
• Current Commercial Driver License, Minimum Class B License.
• Compliance with Department of Transportation federal regulations and City of Austin Drug Policy.

Responsibilities

• Operate Rear-Loading Refuse Truck and other ARR vehicles and equipment.
• Pre-trip vehicle inspections and maintenance; keep records.
• Interact with customers, answer routine questions and provide information.
• Follow safety rules; report accidents and hazards.
• Load/unload carts; maintain and repair carts as needed.
