Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate a range of heavy machinery at a recycling center, landfill or transfer station. Responsibilities include pre/post inspections, handling equipment like forklifts and excavators, and ensuring safe, efficient waste handling while maintaining neat work areas.

The role emphasizes strict adherence to safety policies, timely reporting of repairs, and proactive equipment maintenance to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Good customer services skills to meet/exceed customer expectations.
• Good time management skills to complete responsibilities safely and efficiently.
• Good follow-through and adherence to work schedules.
• Compliance with company safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of equipment.
• Safely operate equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader and related machinery.
• Monitor waste for unacceptable materials and ensure equipment readiness to minimize downtime.
• Perform minor servicing on equipment and document reports; refer major repairs to Maintenance Shop.
• Complete Equipment Condition Report and other required reports; notify supervisor of repairs.
