Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate equipment at a recycling center, landfill or transfer station. Responsibilities include inspection, operation of multiple heavy machines, waste screening, minor servicing, and reporting conditions to supervision.

The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and keeping the work area clean, with opportunities to contribute to efficient waste handling and equipment readiness across shifts.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Customer service skills to meet and exceed customer expectations.
• Ability to adhere to Company policies and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment.
• Safely operate heavy equipment (e.g., forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader).
• Continuously monitor waste for unacceptable materials.
• Maintain equipment readiness and clean tracks or wheels as needed.
• Perform minor service and report repairs to Maintenance Shop.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other necessary reports.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.
• Keep the shop clean, serviced and stored after each shift.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
