Job summary

Republic Services is hiring for an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate heavy equipment at recycling centers, landfills, or transfer stations. The role includes transferring, spreading, covering, loading, and compacting waste or soil efficiently and safely.

Responsibilities include pre/post inspection, operating equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer, and loader, monitoring waste quality, and ensuring operational readiness to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment to ensure windows, lights, mirrors and rear view camera are clean.
• Safely and efficiently operate equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader and other equipment following safety standards.
• Monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste and the equipment condition to minimize downtime.
• Perform minor service on equipment and report needed repairs to the Maintenance Shop.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other required reports; maintain a clean, serviced shop at shift end.
• Follow safety policies and ensure the work area is clean at completion of each shift.
