Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator – Heavy Equipment to safely operate heavy machinery at a recycling center, landfill, or transfer station. Responsibilities include inspecting equipment, loading and spreading waste, and maintaining a clean work environment each shift.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment per policy, ensuring windows, lights, mirrors and camera are clean.
• Safely operate equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer, and front-end loader using proper safety standards.
• Monitor waste for unacceptable materials and ensure equipment is operationally ready to minimize downtime.
• Perform minor service on equipment and document it; refer major issues to Maintenance Shop.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and report repairs to supervisor as needed.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures and keep the shop clean at shift end.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
