Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Warehouse Automation Engineer to identify, pilot, and deploy advanced automation technologies across multiple distribution centers.

You will collaborate with operations, IT, and business stakeholders to demonstrate value, drive efficiency, and scale successful solutions across regions. The role requires strong project management, data analytics, and technical design skills, with 30–40% travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field of study.
• Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• 3+ years in warehouse automation, material handling technologies, industrial engineering or warehouse systems integration (preferred).
• 2+ years in warehouse automation experience (preferred).
• Experience with automation technologies such as sortation conveyors, goods-to-person, autonomous vehicles/robots, AS/RS (required).
• Industrial or Mechanical Engineering background with related warehouse operations knowledge (beginner to required).
• Experience in financial business case analysis to support ROI (intermediate, preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead automation selection and validation for new business sale projects; identify potential technologies.
• Develop ROI and justification to select optimal solution designs.
• Support automation project leads on gap analysis in vendor FSD/SOW.
• Provide input on design validation to ensure performance and uptime.
• Assist in procurement activities and vendor evaluations for automation solutions.
• Manage smaller projects and track milestones, punches lists, and project plans.
• Coordinate on-site support, SAT testing and post-go-live hypercare.
• Profile data from dashboards to support system optimization and analytics.
