Job summary

Sompo seeks a VP, Underwriting Support Manager to lead the North America Property Team. This role drives staffing, workflows, and premium bookings while partnering with underwriting, CAT, claims, and centralized support groups to optimize operations.

Candidates should have 10+ years of managerial experience, a Bachelor's degree, and strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Location flexibility across major US offices is offered.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of managerial experience with similar duties.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Extensive experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
• Strong planning and organizational skills with multi-tasking ability.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of managers and underwriting staff, including hiring, training, mentoring and performance management.
• Establish workflows to reduce manual processes and gain efficiencies.
• Collaborate with underwriting managers to deliver effective support and identify improvement opportunities.
• Oversee internal and external audit processes.
• Manage monthly premium bookings and overdue premium processes.
• Lead headcount and workload planning; monitor performance metrics.
• Support value stream mapping and cross-functional projects to improve processes.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and provide ad hoc project support.
