Job summary

Sompo is seeking a VP, Underwriting Support Manager to lead the North America Property Team and drive efficient workflows across underwriting, CAT, claims, and other partners. The role requires 10+ years of managerial experience, a bachelor's degree, and strong leadership and collaboration skills.

The position offers flexible location among major U.S. offices and a competitive salary range. Expect exposure to Guidewire PolicyCenter, MS Office, and a focus on data-driven performance metrics.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of managerial experience with similar duties.
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills.
• Experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
• Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of people managers and underwriting associates including hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management.
• Establish workflows to reduce or eliminate manual processes and gain efficiencies.
• Collaborate with underwriting managers to ensure underwriting teams provide effective support and identify improvement opportunities.
• Oversee internal and external audit processes.
• Manage monthly premium bookings and overdue premium processes.
• Lead headcount and workload management.
• Develop operational performance metrics and report on KPIs.
• Participate in value stream mapping and cross-functional projects to create process efficiencies.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Perform ad hoc projects as needed.
• Provide backup to other managers as necessary.
