Job summary

Sompo International is seeking a VP, Underwriting Support Manager to lead a team that backs underwriting operations across North America. You will build efficient workflows, drive performance metrics, and collaborate with underwriting and claims teams to optimize processes and audit readiness.

The role requires extensive leadership experience, proficiency with Guidewire PolicyCenter, and strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of managerial experience with similar duties.
• Bachelor’s Degree Preferred.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Extensive experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter.
• Technical capabilities such as Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
• Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, and mentor staff including people managers and underwriting associates.
• Establish workflows to reduce manual processes and gain efficiencies.
• Collaborate with underwriting managers to improve support.
• Manage internal and external audits.
• Oversee monthly premium bookings and overdue premium processes.
• Lead headcount and workload management.
• Develop operational performance metrics and report KPIs.
• Participate in cross-functional projects to improve processes.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Provide backup to other managers as needed.
