Job summary

Hanwha Renewables is seeking a Vice President, Transmission & Interconnection, to lead transmission strategy and interconnection across its utility-scale solar, battery storage, and grid infrastructure projects. The role oversees strategy, studies, regulatory engagement, and vendor interactions, reporting to the Chief Development Officer with travel up to 30%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 12+ years of experience in transmission planning, interconnection, utility-scale power generation, or renewable energy development.
• 7+ years of leadership experience.
• Extensive experience with major ISOs and RTOs (CAISO, PJM, ERCOT, MISO, SPP, NYISO, ISO-NE).
• Strong understanding of transmission planning, generation interconnection, and wholesale power markets.
• Knowledge of FERC, NERC, and transmission regulatory frameworks.
• Experience supporting utility-scale solar, battery energy storage, wind, or other generation projects.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute transmission and interconnection strategies for renewable energy and storage development pipeline.
• Identify and evaluate transmission opportunities to enhance project economics and market access.
• Lead transmission-related due diligence for greenfield developments, acquisitions, and JV opportunities.
• Assess transmission congestion, curtailment risk, deliverability constraints, and grid reliability impacts.
• Provide executive recommendations on project viability, siting, and development risk.
• Oversee all interconnection activities from application through commercial operation.
• Direct interconnection studies (feasibility, system impact, facility, restudy).
• Lead resolution of interconnection challenges, network upgrades, and cost allocations.
• Establish and maintain relationships with utilities, ISOs, RTOs, and regulators.
• Manage technical negotiations for interconnection agreements and transmission service arrangements.
• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of transmission, interconnection, and grid integration professionals.
• Provide technical oversight of power flow analysis, system modeling, generator interconnection studies, and transmission evaluations.
• Review engineering deliverables, equipment specs, and reports for quality and compliance.
• Collaborate with internal engineering and external consultants for project execution.
• Support performance engineering for utility-scale solar and storage projects.
• Monitor regulatory developments involving FERC, NERC, and regional bodies.
• Provide strategic guidance on planning reforms and interconnection policies.
• Represent Hanwha Renewables before utilities, regulators, industry bodies, and market operators.
• Support policy advocacy impacting transmission expansion and renewable integration.
• Partner with Development, Finance, Origination, EPC, and Asset Management to optimize outcomes.
• Support project valuation, financial modeling, and risk assessments via transmission expertise.
• Assist in project handoffs from development to construction and operations.
• Contribute to investment committee materials and executive decisions.
• Provide expertise during M&A evaluations and strategic transactions.
• Manage transmission planning consultants, engineering firms, and service providers.
• Oversee scopes of work, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
• Review third-party studies and recommendations.
• Drive continuous improvement in transmission and interconnection processes.
