Job summary

Renovo Search is seeking a Senior Transmission & Interconnection Manager to evaluate grid interconnection opportunities for utility-scale solar, storage, and related projects across North America. The role blends power systems analysis, transmission planning, and commercial evaluation, with significant stakeholder engagement and cross-functional influence.

Qualifications

7–10+ years of engineering experience in utility-scale power systems.
At least 3 years of direct experience with transmission-level interconnection of generation or energy storage resources.
Strong understanding of transmission planning, system reliability, congestion, grid operations, and wholesale electricity markets.
Experience with power system analysis software such as PSS/E, PowerWorld, TARA, MUST.
Familiarity with production cost and market simulation tools such as PLEXOS, PROMOD, Aurora, GridView, UPLAN.
Experience evaluating or modeling transmission and interconnection upgrade costs is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of high-voltage substations, transmission facilities, interconnection facilities, and associated engineering considerations.
Working knowledge of transmission and distribution interconnection tariffs, procedures, study processes, and planning requirements.
Experience working with ISOs/RTOs, utilities, transmission owners, or other grid stakeholders.
Ability to assess technical information and translate findings into commercial and development recommendations.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement creative solutions to complex problems.
Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and project management skills.
Comfortable operating independently in a fast-growing development environment.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Responsibilities

Evaluate potential points of interconnection and identify viable grid connection strategies.
Perform transmission and power system assessments (power flow, contingency, congestion).
Develop interconnection strategies and execution plans for U.S. markets.
Lead or support interconnection due diligence for new and existing projects.
Review transmission studies and identify risks (technical, commercial, schedule).
Estimate cost and timing of network upgrades and interconnection facilities.
Support evaluation of alternative interconnection configurations to reduce costs/risk.
Prepare, coordinate, and submit interconnection requests and docs.
Develop relationships with utilities, ISOs/RTOs, consultants, grid stakeholders.
Interpret interconnection studies, tariffs, and market rules for decisions.
Communicate complex grid issues to development, engineering, and executives.
Provide input throughout project development, design, construction, and commissioning.
Participate in project reviews, advising on grid risks and opportunities.
Monitor changes in planning, interconnection processes, market structures, and regulations.
