Job summary

AXS is seeking a Vice President of Data Engineering in San Francisco to lead our global data engineering organization. You will own strategy, architecture, and operation of data platforms, pipelines, and infrastructure powering personalization, analytics, fraud prevention, pricing, and reporting across the business.

This executive leader will define vision and roadmap for a scalable, secure, cost-effective data platform, partnering with the CTO, Data Science, Product, and business stakeholders

Qualifications

• 13+ years in high-growth technology with 7+ years leading data engineering teams.
• Experience building data platforms for consumer-facing or transactional systems.
• Proven ability to define and deliver roadmaps at scale.
• Hands-on knowledge of modern data stacks and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Define and advance AXS' data engineering strategy and architecture.
• Own the roadmap for data platforms, pipelines, and infrastructure.
• Oversee scalable data pipelines and real-time data ingestion.
• Lead evolution of data lake/warehouse architecture for performance and cost efficiency.
• Establish data governance, quality, lineage, and security standards.
• Build and empower a global data engineering team.
• Collaborate with Data Science, Product, Marketing, Finance, and Operations.
• Drive operational excellence and reduce data downtime.
• Translate business goals into actionable data initiatives.
• Provide updates to CTO and senior leadership.
• Manage operating budgets and resources.
