Job summary

AXS, a global leader in live event ticketing, seeks a proven VP of Data Engineering in Los Angeles to lead strategy, architecture, and operation of data platforms powering personalization, analytics, fraud prevention, pricing, and reporting. The role anchors the data lake/warehouse, streaming and batch pipelines, and governance to deliver trusted real-time data across the business.

Qualifications

• 13+ years in high-growth technology with 7+ years leading data engineering or data platform teams at scale.
• Experience building and operating high-volume data platforms supporting consumer-facing, e-commerce, or transactional systems.
• Proven roadmapping and end-to-end delivery of data platforms at scale.
• Strong data warehousing, orchestration, and streaming knowledge (Snowflake/Redshift/BigQuery, Airflow/dbt, Kafka/Kinesis, AWS).
• Experience with data governance, lineage, security, and privacy/compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to lead distributed, global teams and collaborate with data science, product, engineering, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Define and advance AXS' data engineering strategy and architecture in partnership with senior leaders.
• Own the roadmap for data platforms, pipelines, and infrastructure to support analytics and operations.
• Design, build, and operate scalable batch and real-time data pipelines across the business.
• Evolve data lake/warehouse architecture for performance, cost efficiency, and reliability at high volume.
• Establish data governance, quality, lineage, and security standards to ensure compliance.
• Build and empower a high-performing global data engineering team and culture of innovation.
• Collaborate with Data Science, Product, Marketing, Finance, and other partners to meet evolving needs.
• Drive operational excellence with KPI-driven delivery and reduced data downtime.
• Translate business goals into actionable data initiatives to support growth and decision-making.
• Provide clear updates to the CTO and senior leadership, and manage budgets/resources.
