JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking a Vice President / Assistant General Counsel to lead a premier Wholesale Litigation team in New York.

Qualifications

• Law degree or educational equivalent, licensed in the relevant jurisdiction.
• At least 5 years of experience as a practicing litigation attorney.
• Experience defending securities class actions.
• Knowledge of complex financial products and services.
• Experience preparing witnesses for depositions.
• Ability to assume significant independent responsibility with minimal oversight.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with multitasking ability.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication, including to senior executives.
• All candidates must complete a conflicts of interest clearance prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Strategically lead and manage a portfolio of complex financial services litigation matters from intake through resolution, including case strategy, pleadings, discovery, dispositive motions, trial preparation, settlements, and appeals.
• Defend the Firm in securities class actions and M&A/lending-related disputes tied to banking products and services; assess potential affirmative litigation.
• Conduct early case assessments and develop strategic litigation plans with escalation points for senior stakeholders.
• Retain, instruct, and manage outside counsel with scope-setting, staffing, budgets, and quality control.
• Lead complex fact development and discovery, including e-discovery and witness preparation when needed.
• Handle complex third-party subpoenas and document/testimony requests where the Firm is not a party.
• Provide pre-litigation counseling to clients and firm leaders to mitigate risk and preserve defenses.
• Identify recurring themes and create playbooks and lessons-learned guidance to reduce repeat litigation risk.
