Job summary

LPL Financial seeks a Vice President, AI Governance to own the firm’s enterprise AI governance strategy and provide authoritative oversight across the AI lifecycle. This leader will advise senior executives, set accountability across risk, privacy, legal, and audit, and ensure responsible AI adoption while protecting clients and regulatory standing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in technology risk, model risk, AI governance, cybersecurity, data risk, compliance, audit, or a related discipline within financial services or regulated industry.
• 5+ years of direct experience reviewing, governing, validating, auditing, implementing, or overseeing AI/ML or model-based solutions.
• Demonstrated experience challenging AI solutions across architecture, model, data and control levels.
• Proven experience establishing or enhancing an enterprise governance, risk or control framework.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the enterprise AI Governance Framework, including policies, standards, risk taxonomy, risk-tiering methodology, approval authorities, decision rights, lifecycle requirements, monitoring expectations, and escalation protocols.
• Set strategic direction and operating model for AI governance, translating regulatory developments into practical requirements.
• Provide independent review and credible challenge of AI/ML use cases, including generative AI and other AI-enabled solutions.
• Evaluate AI solutions at architecture, model, data, integration, security, third-party, control, and operating-process levels to identify risks and gaps.
• Challenge owners on data suitability and lineage, model behavior, testing, validation, and risk-based decision making.
• Chair or lead enterprise AI governance forums and drive risk-based decisions with clear documentation and escalation.
• Advise executives and governance committees and represent the program in regulatory examinations, internal audits, and independent reviews.
• Establish accountability across Business, Technology, Information Security, Data Governance, Privacy, Legal and Compliance.
• Define meaningful KPIs and executive reporting showing AI exposure, control effectiveness, and program maturity.
• Oversee regulatory examinations and independent assessments to close gaps with remediation plans.
• Build and lead a high-performing AI governance team with strong judgment and discipline.
