Job summary

People, Technology & Processes, LLC seeks a Telecommunications Mechanic (Inside Plant) at Fort Knox, KY, to maintain central switching systems and related telecom infrastructure. The role requires hands-on ISP experience and a Secret clearance.

The candidate will install, test, diagnose, and repair Avaya and VoIP solutions, manage the Telephone Management System, and perform preventative maintenance while adhering to DoD IA and security requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma.
• Five years ISP experience maintaining telecom systems.
• Knowledge of Avaya and VoIP communications systems.
• Certification within 6 months (GSEC/CompTIA Security+/SSCP) is preferred.
• Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and good communications.

Responsibilities

• Maintains Inside Plant (ISP) telecom equipment including telephone switching, voicemail, VoIP programming, and related systems.
• Installs, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs digital switching equipment and related facilities in the central office.
• Performs routine preventative maintenance on switch hardware.
• Resolves customer trouble calls related to voice issues and analyzes failures to locate root causes.
• Maintains central office records and supports remote diagnostics, parts, and documentation updates.
• Maintains synchronous optical network, T-1 circuits, trunks, and related infrastructure.
• Ensures safe work environment and compliance with codes and regulations, attends required training.
