Job summary

General Motors LLC is seeking a Senior Virtual Hardware Model Engineer to lead the development of mathematical models that optimize hardware design parameters. You will collaborate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to deliver high-fidelity plant models and support vehicle-level co-simulation environments.

Responsibilities include parameterizing models from test data, exporting FMUs, and driving model fidelity while coordinating across GVHE programs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Math, Physics, or Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of product development, systems engineering, or software/hardware connectivity experience.
  • Experience translating physical phenomena into mathematical/Simulink models (electrical, mechanical, software I/O).
  • Proficiency with Matlab/Simulink or similar code-based modeling tools.
  • Track record delivering complex multi-domain models into SIL/HIL/CoSim workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-fidelity component plant models in MATLAB/Simulink that emulate electrical, mechanical/physics, and software interfaces of GVHE hardware components.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to understand hardware designs and translate them into modeling requirements.
  • Implement plant models for GM CoSim environments (FMU export) with correct I/O definitions and naming.
  • Parameterize models using design data and test results to improve fidelity.
  • Support integration of component models into larger system and vehicle-level co-simulation environments.
