Job summary

General Motors is seeking an experienced simulation engineer to support virtual engineering for General Assembly vehicle programs. You will perform dynamic simulations, assess readiness, and lead virtual builds across the product lifecycle, collaborating with manufacturing, architecture, and product teams to drive timely, high-quality results.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; equivalent practical experience considered.
Experience with dynamic simulation, manufacturing process analysis, virtual engineering, or related discipline.
Working capability with Siemens Process Simulate, Tecnomatix, or comparable platform.
Working capability with Teamcenter and navigating product structures.
Knowledge of Manufacturing Process Planner, VisMockup, or similar tools.
Understanding of General Assembly processes and manufacturing readiness.
Basic to intermediate coding/scripting in Python, C#, VBA.

Responsibilities

Perform dynamic simulations for robotic and manual General Assembly operations using Siemens Process Simulate and Tecnomatix in eMServer and Teamcenter environments.
Assess product designs, process concepts, tooling, equipment, and product interfaces for manufacturing readiness.
Lead or support virtual builds across the product lifecycle, including creating and managing manufacturing build sequences.
Partner with manufacturing engineers, architecture leads, product teams, and stakeholders to clarify objectives and communicate results.
Review and compare engineering data to identify missing or duplicate study requests across configurations.
Configure simulation workcells, execute studies, document issues, and recommend improvements.
Prioritize work across programs and communicate risks and changing priorities early.
Perform quality reviews of simulation studies and mentor newer team members.
Maintain program tracking records and simulation tool libraries.
Help validate software releases and troubleshoot issues in related systems.
Use automation and AI-enabled workflows to reduce repetitive work.
Identify practical improvements to simulation methods and tools.
Support GM vehicle programs by improving decisions and launches.
