Job summary

Colonial Group seeks a Tech-Advisor (T/A) in Bangor, ME to support VIP’s mission of earning automotive customers for life. You will work as a service writer and technician, delivering excellent customer experiences by following VIP processes and safety standards.

The role requires learning LMS training, obtaining ASE certifications, and maintaining strong communication with the team. Standard schedule is 5 days/40 hours weekly in a service department setting.

Qualifications

• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Strong organization and time management skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of automotive servicing and the industry.
• One year of related experience in automotive service field.
• Completion of two-year college or technical school program recommended.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current, valid driver’s license issued in state of residence.
• Equipment Safety Certification.
• ASE Certification C1 – Service Consultant required.
• ASE Certification P2 – Parts Specialist recommended.
• ASE Certification G1 – Maintenance and light repair recommended.
• ASE Certification A4 – Suspension & Steering
• ASE Certification A5 – Brakes
• State Inspection License Required (where applicable)

Responsibilities

• Ensure workplace safety is Priority #1 and report hazards.
• Serve customers at the counter as service writer and educate about vehicle conditions.
• Assist as technician and complete services per VIP standards.
• Complete required training and certifications for both roles.
• Aim for strong customer engagement and productive billed hours.
• Learn VIP processes and execute duties to improve customer experience.
• Maintain facility and equipment in clean, safe condition.
• Enforce compliance with Code of Ethics and regulations.
• Coordinate with management to uphold service standards.
