Job summary

Axon in Scottsdale, AZ is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to sustain and improve video electronics, including body-worn cameras and in-vehicle systems. You’ll own post-launch improvements, work with cross-functional teams, and address obsolescence while supporting regulatory testing.

The role requires hands-on design, high-speed and RF experience, and ability to drive changes from concept through production release. You’ll collaborate with global partners to maintain world-class products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 4+ years in electronics design or sustaining engineering for mass-produced embedded devices.
  • Experience with alternate-source components, obsolescence management, and BOM updates.
  • Experience with engineering change orders and PCB/layout updates.
  • Strong analog/digital circuit design foundations.
  • Hands-on lab skills for bring-up, debugging and failure analysis.
  • Experience with RF, Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi, GNSS, or cellular systems.
  • Proficiency with schematic capture and BOM development.
  • Autonomous work style in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Update in-market circuit designs to address obsolescence and post-launch improvements.
  • Own electronics sustainment across post-launch product lifecycle.
  • Bench verify and evaluate components and circuits with lab equipment.
  • Perform hands-on debug, failure analysis, and rework of electronic systems.
  • Update embedded mixed-signal designs using Cadence/OrCAD for complex products.
  • Collaborate with PCB layout engineers to review and release PCB updates.
  • Test RF performance of wireless subsystems and validate designs.
  • Develop test methods and drive test plans for design changes.
  • Document design changes, test results, and communicate findings clearly to teams.
  • Support regulatory compliance testing (FCC, CE, PTCRB) and BOM documentation.
