Job summary

SJE Inc. is seeking a VFD Design & Support Engineer at our Detroit Lakes, MN headquarters. You will design VFD control panels, support new product development, validate performance, and provide expert guidance through the product life cycle.

You will conduct hands‑on testing in our engineering lab to ensure customer expectations and UL 508A standards are met, while collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and customer support teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent is required.
• 3–6 years of related design and support experience.
• Experience designing electrical control systems and VFD applications from scratch.
• Familiarity with UL 508A and industrial control panel design.

Responsibilities

• Design specialized VFD control panels and support new product development.
• Validate system performance and ensure UL 508A compliance.
• Provide technical guidance across engineering, production, and customer support.
• Assist field teams with troubleshooting and production testing.
