Job summary

SJE in Detroit Lakes, MN is seeking a VFD Design & Support Engineer to design VFD control panels, support new product development, validate performance, and guide products through lifecycle.

You will create schematics, select components, test in the lab, and assist field and production teams; a 4-year EE degree and 3–6 years of experience are required. Excellent benefits accompany this role.

Qualifications

• Experience designing electrical control systems and VFD applications from scratch.
• Knowledge of motor controls, industrial automation, electrical schematics.
• Familiarity with Modbus, EtherNet/IP, or PROFIBUS.
• Understanding UL 508A standards for control panel design.
• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across engineering teams.
• A 4-year Electrical Engineering degree with 3–6 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Design specialized VFD control panels and develop control system designs.
• Support new product development and validate system performance.
• Provide expert technical guidance throughout product lifecycle.
• Create electrical schematics and select components for reliability.
• Test designs in the engineering lab and ensure UL 508A compliance.
• Support field troubleshooting and assist production with panel testing.
