Job summary

Petco Vetco Total Care in the United States seeks a Veterinarian Technician to deliver high-quality veterinary care to patients and exceptional service to owners. The role supports veterinarians and hospital leadership, handling histories, vital signs, procedures, and records with a compassionate approach.

You will assist during surgeries and anesthesia, manage client communication, and contribute to a cooperative team focused on patient well-being and experience.

Qualifications

• College-equivalent education completed to become a Credentialed Veterinary Technician in the state.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a veterinary practice as a Veterinary Technician.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Compassionate and professional demeanor in emotional or stressful situations.
• Strong telephone and computer skills are essential for client communication and records.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, take weights and vital signs, record history in EMR.
• Assist veterinarian with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Perform patient restraint, collect lab samples, dispense medications, and maintain EMR.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay results, update records, and manage accounts receivable.
• Prepare patients for procedures, monitor anesthetized patients, and assist with recovery and discharge.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and IV therapies, keep patients clean, fed, and comfortable.
• Train new staff and share knowledge as required.
• Maintain a neat, clean hospital environment and perform routine maintenance tasks.
