Job summary

Petco is seeking a Veterinary Technician to provide high-quality care to Vetco Total Care patients and outstanding customer service to pet owners. The role emphasizes clinical support, patient welfare, and team collaboration within a full-service hospital environment.

Ideal candidates will have credentialing and at least one year of veterinary experience, strong communication skills, and a compassionate, patient-centered approach to care and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Credentialed Veterinary Technician with required state credentials.
• At least 1 year of experience in a veterinary practice.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients arriving for appointments or walk-ins, obtain weights and vital signs, and document in the EMR.
• Assist veterinarians with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia under supervision.
• Handle and dispense medications as directed by the veterinarian and maintain the EMR.
• Schedule appointments, educate clients, relay test results, and manage client/patient records and accounts receivable.
• Prepare patients for surgical and dental procedures and monitor anesthetized patients.
• Provide in-hospital treatments and ensure patient care, including injections, IV therapies, and feeding as directed.
• Participate in training of new staff and maintain hospital cleanliness and organization.
• Perform additional duties as assigned and provide backup front desk support as needed.
