Job summary

WVRC Ozaukee is seeking a full-time Emergency Veterinary Technician for the Ozaukee, WI area. The role features a 2nd shift schedule with four 10-hour shifts per week, every other weekend, and some holidays.

A sign-on bonus is offered for certified technicians and experienced assistants are welcome to apply. You will support doctors in critical care, perform anesthesia monitoring, labs, and radiography, in a fast-paced, collaborative hospital.

Qualifications

• CVT certification preferred and given highest consideration.
• Ability to communicate effectively both written and oral.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient vital signs and document observations accurately.
• Assist veterinarians and other departments as needed.
• Provide anesthesia monitoring, nursing care, and emergency support.
• Prepare samples for diagnostic testing and perform basic lab procedures.
• Obtain radiographs and operate medical equipment safely.
• Communicate professionally with clients and maintain a clean, safe work environment.

In your day-to-day, you will:

• Monitor patient vital signs and activity, ensuring all observations are accurately documented
• Support our veterinarians and provide assistance to other departments as needed
• Deliver compassionate comfort, diagnostic, surgical, and nursing care to all patients, including those requiring critical care
• Perform basic, emergency, and critical care anesthetic monitoring
• Collect and prepare samples for diagnostic testing, including but not limited to blood draws, arterial blood gas sampling, cystocentesis, urinary catheter sampling, and free-catch urine collection
• Perform a variety of laboratory procedures, including but not limited to blood typing, crossmatching, and slide agglutination testing
• Accurately obtain and process abdominal, thoracic, appendicular, spinal, and skull radiographs while adhering to appropriate radiation safety protocols
• Properly operate, care for, and maintain medical equipment
• Communicate with clients in a professional and compassionate manner
• Help maintain clean, organized hospital areas and a safe, sanitary work environment
• Maintain client and patient confidentiality at all times
• Meet or exceed established performance standards for quality and productivity
• Meet or exceed WVRC expectations for attendance and punctuality
