Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health's WVRC Waukesha is seeking a Veterinary Technician Supervisor for the Emergency Department. This full-time, 3rd shift role leads a skilled team of technicians and assistants, ensuring top-notch emergency patient care while managing staffing and operations.

You will mentor staff, oversee anesthesia monitoring, diagnostics, and ICU nursing, and collaborate with Hospital Services Manager to optimize case flow.

Qualifications

  • Must be credentialed veterinary technician in good standing.
  • Minimum 5 years clinical emergency/critical care experience.
  • At least 1 year supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong anesthesia, diagnostics, and ICU patient care skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluent English (speaking/reading); multilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of Veterinary Technicians and Assistants.
  • Train and develop team members through coaching, skill assessments, and ongoing learning opportunities.
  • Create and manage team schedules to ensure appropriate staffing and overtime management.
  • Partner with the Hospital Services Manager and Hospital Director to support daily hospital operations and case flow.
  • Assist with employee performance management and cultivating a high-performing workforce.
  • Facilitate team meetings and continuing education initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, OSHA and DEA regulations.
  • Work alongside the clinical team by providing advanced nursing care for emergency and critically ill patients.
  • Perform anesthesia monitoring, catheter placement, phlebotomy, diagnostic imaging, laboratory sample collection.
  • Support a collaborative, patient-centered environment as a clinical resource.

Veterinary Technician Supervisor, Emergency Department

Location: Waukesha, WI

Schedule: Full Time | 3rd Shift Needed | 4 Ten Hour Shifts Per Week | Varied Days Of The Week | Some Weekends Included

Compensation: $30/hr +, Dependent On Experience | Applicable Shift Differentials - $5/hr for the hours between midnight and 8am | $3000 hiring bonus!

In Your Day-To-Day, You Will
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of Veterinary Technicians and Assistants, fostering a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture.
  • Train and develop team members through hands-on coaching, skill assessments, and ongoing learning opportunities.
  • Create and manage team schedules to ensure appropriate staffing, operational efficiency, and effective overtime management.
  • Partner with the Hospital Services Manager and Hospital Director to support daily hospital operations, optimize case flow, and deliver exceptional patient care and client service.
  • Assist with employee performance management, team development, and cultivating a high-performing, engaged workforce.
  • Facilitate team meetings and continuing education initiatives to promote professional growth and clinical excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, OSHA and DEA regulations, and other safety and quality standards.
  • Work alongside the clinical team by providing advanced nursing care for emergency and critically ill patients.
  • Perform a variety of technical skills, including anesthesia monitoring, catheter placement, phlebotomy, diagnostic imaging, laboratory sample collection, and other advanced veterinary nursing procedures.
  • Support a collaborative, patient-centered environment by serving as a clinical resource and role model for the team.
What You Bring
  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (LVT, CVT, or RVT) in good standing required
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in emergency, critical care, or specialty medicine
  • At least 1 year of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Strong technical skill set including anesthesia, diagnostics, and ICU patient care
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team. Ability to handle high-pressure situations with professionalism and compassion. Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Fluent English skills (speaking and reading) are required; fluency in multiple languages is a plus.
